Friday Fragments - 7th Oct

I missed the Friday fragments last week! So this week I am trying to be on time.

---) Spent the whole of today cleaning and cooking - I go through this timely rituals mostly when guests come home. If someone comes often enough and has already seen the house messy, then they no longer count as guests :-D

---) I folded almost 200 give away t-shirts in the library as part of my volunteer work. When I told my husband about this, he immediately turned around, looked at my closet and smiled. I do wonder sometimes how my closet can look like I have tried out all clothes at the same time and just hung them out in bunches.

---) Last week we visited the Intrepid, Sea Air and Space Museum. It is this rather cool museum (which I was initially dragged to) in NYC as we got 2 free entry tickets. You get to see a World War II time submarine, an aircraft carrier and several small fighter planes. The submarine was good fun.

---) Tuesday was a bit of a challenging day. Hubs had a small procedure at the hospital and I had to drop him home before I could head to a career fair, 30 miles from our place. I was nervous about every aspect of the day, but it made me smile as he mumbled   in half squashed drowsy words a few safe driving procedures and reminded me to collect business cards -  the bliss of marital life

---) I attended a story writing workshop this week at the library. After reading out my story, there was this stunned silence and then the teacher went - "WOOOOOOOW". He had told us to write a story with a specific conflict in the plot. He said, "Your story is full of conflicts that I don't even know which part doesn't have a conflict. The poor girl" he said of my main character and hurriedly moved on to the next person. As I reread the story which I had written in the absolute last minute, I did get the feeling that my story had a strong underground bollywood connection. The main character did seem to have every single possible tragedy happening to her at the same time. Will upload it when I complete it :-).

---) Watched this movie called "Sicko" by Michael Moore. Incredible eye opener for me about the health care system in the US and around the world. Taken in a sort of hilarious way to not make it too darn depressing.

---) "The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do" - Steve Jobs. You will be in our minds.

I'd love to volunteer at a library sometime. Maybe you should write soap operas!

Hi Thamarai,
I am visiting and following via Friday Fragments. You reminded me of how much I used to love to volunteer at the library. I am going to look into that again.
I will look forward to reading your story when you finish it. Spread the conflicts out a bit!
