Happy Gandhi... Jayanti? What is the last word supposed to mean? Sorry for my ignorance!

@ Aledys,

It basically means the name of the National Holiday in India which honours the birth of the Great Mahatma Gandhi. At least how I understand it ;)

Sorry guys for the much delay in my reply, I was caught up with a few presentations..

Lopa - You totally missed it yaar! It was pretty good. Even I had no idea how the vent would turn out to be but it definitely exceeded my expectations...especially the part where all the Gujju's started the garba, it was very beautiful...there will also be a Diwali festival in November (7th I think)..you shd come for that one...:)..Will post some pictures soon.

Efrutik, hehe..same here..I sneek into this during work time as well and I have the same feeling....It feels great to know that entire world, recogonizes the work of Gandhi. And thanks as well for the clarification to Aledys..:)..It is indeed a national holiday.

Aledys, Ya, Google is unbelievably creative and smart. Jayanthi litera;;y means the birth or raise.. We celebrate every great person/God's birthday as Jayanthi. For instance, Krishna Jayanthi is the birth of lord Krishna ( from the Hare Krishna movement!)

Drromvla, Thanks again, I am a big follower of Gandhi..if I could imbibe some of his principles, it would be a big achievement for me.
